中国工程院、清华大学共同支持，联合国教科文组织（UNESCO）、国际工程教育中心（ICEE）合作出版的UNESCO全球工程报告《工程——支持可持续发展》已于2021年3月4日“世界工程日”在巴黎和北京正式发布。工程报告包括中文、英文、法文三种语言的主报告，以及中文、英文、法文、俄文、西班牙文和阿拉伯文六种语言的摘要报告。作为联合国教科文组织旗舰报告，工程报告探讨了工程推动全球可持续发展目标实现的一系列举措，呼吁各国政府、企业、大学、研究机构、社会公众更加重视工程，并采取切实行动。

为促进工程支持可持续发展，加强国际工程教育合作，联合国教科文组织国际工程中心将于2021年12月9日20:00-22:00（北京时间）在线召开“工程支持可持续发展学术研讨会”。会议邀请联合国教科文组织、世界工程组织联合会、国际工程联盟、以及工程报告的部分作者，围绕联合国教科文组织工程倡议、工程加快可持续发展、工程构建更可持续的世界、面向未来的工程教育、工程的跨区域趋势、国际工程联盟GAPC标准修订等主题进行深入探讨。
